The
AmeriKids Preschool was established in 1999 by concerned parents within
the
embassy
community to provide a safe, stimulating, learning environment
in which
our young children could
reach their highest potential.
The preschool program is designed to enhance
early childhood
development while offering opportunities for
interaction with
other children and caregivers
though both open and structured play as
well as
large and small group activities.
We recognize and respect each
child's unique style
and pace of learning. Children pass
through a series of stages as they develop. We,
therefore, strive to provide
individualized
instruction as well as a variety of developmentally
appropriate
toys, materials, and activities in
order to stimulate the interests of
every
child.
Our approach to the education of
young children is
family focused. We encourage parents
to
not only visit the preschool regularly, but also to participate
in its
daily
program, special events,
and general upkeep.
There will be regular reviews of the children's progress during
which
parental
input is welcomed.
Through the AmeriKids Preschool
program, it is our
mission to foster the positive self-esteem,
creativity and independence
of our
young children. We respect differences
and appreciate cultural
diversity. Our
goal, therefore, is to promote a strong sense of cultural identity
among our
children,
as well as respect for and appreciation of other people and
cultures.
